​What Is A Home Inspection?

A home inspection is a professional, visual examination of a house’s physical structure and systems from a home inspector who is a unbiased licensed third party. A home inspection usually happens when someone is buying (or sometimes selling) a home, to assess its condition before closing the deal.
A licensed home inspector checks things like:
Roof and attic (for leaks, insulation, structure) Foundation and basement (for cracks, moisture issues) Plumbing system (pipes, water heater, drainage) Electrical system (wiring, outlets, panel) HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) Windows, doors, and walls (for damage or poor sealing) Appliances (if included in the sale)
After the inspection, the buyer usually gets a detailed report outlining any issues found, which can be used to negotiate repairs, price reductions, or walk away from the deal if the problems are serious.
